Boating

in Castle Country

During the summer, Castle Country's lakes come alive with boaters. Below you can see a few of our most popular boating lakes.

Scofield State Park

Location: in Carbon County off State Highway 96 10 miles south of Colton Junction (See a map)
Services: 2 developed campgrounds, day use pavilions, modern restrooms, 2 boat ramps, docks and drinking water.

Scofield State Park is a popular destination for boating, fishing and camping. Favorite boating activities are water skiing, speed boating and trolling. There are many sandy beaches around the reservoir, so you can bring a group and use a beach as your home base for picnicking and jet skiing.

Be sure to come to Pleasant Valley Days on the 4th of July when fireworks are launched over Scofield Reservoir. It’s a delight to watch from a boat or the shore. See the July events calendar (link to July events) for more information.

Scofield is famous for great fishing. The reservoir and nearby streams are home to many trout species. There is a fee to enter the park in the summer.

Huntington State Park

Location: in Emery County, just two miles north of Huntington on State Highway 10 to the well-signed turnoff. (See a map)
Services: Developed campground, picnic sites, group pavilion, drinking water, modern restrooms, sanitary dump station, boat ramp, boat docks and swimming beaches.

Huntington Reservoir is a lake waiting for boating, water sports, fishing and relaxing under huge shade trees. Warm water makes the reservoir extremely popular for water-skiing.

The reservoir is one of Utah’s finest warm water fisheries for largemouth bass. Only 10 minutes from high mountain country on one side and intense desert beauty on the other, this park offers a central location to experience the best of Castle Country.

The spacious campgrounds around the reservoir are an oasis in the desert. There is a fee to enter the park.

Huntington Canyon

Location: Along Utah Hwy 31 the Huntington-Eccles Scenic Byway

Facilities: Vary

The Manti-La Sal National Forest is dotted with lakes and reservoirs. They provide excellent boating, canoeing and fishing opportunities. Electric Lake has a ramp for motorized boats.

Cleveland Reservoir, Huntington (Mammoth) Reservoir and some smaller irrigation reservoirs allow "carry in" boats only.
