The Green River State Park is the center of all the fun! Use the Green River State Park as a base for boating, kayaking, canoeing and fishing along the world famous Green River. It is within an hours drive to Goblin Valley State Park, the San Rafael Swell Canyonlands and Arches National Parks and Dead Horse Point. This 63-acre park offers extensive camping facilities. Enjoy day trips to the rugged canyons once explored by Major John Wesley Powell or spend a day on the golf course.

Things to do

  • The Rapids on the Green River create some of the best river rafting in the United States. Green River State Park is the perfect place to begin or end a river trip. Book a trip with one of the local river rafting outfitters or view a river-rafting itinerary. If you're experienced enough to go the river alone, economical rental equipment is available from Carbon County Recreation in Price.

    Kayakers, and canoers enjoy riding the Green. Deeper sections of the river bring motorboaters to enjoy the canyons and desert scenery surrounding the river. The annual Friendship Cruise is held in May. As many as 400 motorboats travel from Green River City to Moab. See the May events calendar for more information.
  • Golfers won't want to forget their clubs! The Green River State Park Golf Course is located in within the Green River State Park. This nine-hole course winds through the cottonwood trees and along the Green River. The course is open year-round during daylight hours.
  • Camping Stay in one of the 42 camping units and use the park as a home base for your adventures. Surrounded by grass and tall cottonwood trees, the campgrounds are open from March to November. There is a detailed description of the facilities below.
  • River History The nearby John Wesley Powell River History Museum and Gallery tells the story of the men who explored and charted Green and Colorado Rivers. This museum is a sight as amazing as the mighty Green River itself.
  • Off-highway vehicles The San Rafael Desert surrounding the Green River State Park is an excellent area for riding off-highway vehicles. Visit our ATV page for more information.
  • Outdoor adventures The sky is the limit in this country! A scenic flight would be the perfect way to start your adventure. After that, hike, bike, ATV or ride horses in Mother Nature's playground.
  • Green River Melons Green River is famous for its melons. Each September the city celebrates Melon Days. If you haven't come to Melon Days, this year you must.   • Plants and animals Bird watchers will find robins, kingfishers and mourning doves alongside ibises egrets, herons, hawks, owls and a variety of songbirds. Cottonwood and Russian olive trees, tamarisks, cattails and salt grass vegetate the park.

Facilities
Facilities at the 63-acre park include 42 camping units, group-use facilities, modern rest rooms, hot showers, a day-use area, a small amphitheater, sewage dump station and a boat ramp. Each roomy campsite has a picnic table, paved parking pad and barbecue grill.

Reservations
Reservations are available for group-use and individual campers. Individual campsite reservations may be made from three to 120 days in advance. Group reservations may be made one year in advance.
