Joe's Valley Reservoir is the favorite of local sportsmen. It offers world-class hunting and fishing along with camping, picnicking and boating.
The Joe's Valley Lodge rents cabins and a pavilion area for groups.
What to Do
Camping facilities
- Joe's Valley Campground Restrooms are provided at the campground. There is a boat ramp nearby with additional parking. The campground is in a desert setting, with hot and dry climate, at an elevation of 7,000 feet. Campground roads are paved and there is a paved parking area. - Indian Campground has 12 camp sites and pit bathrooms.
- Above the lake at higher altitudes, above 8,000 feet, there are mountains, meadows and smaller lakes. There are many unmarked camping sites available in the mountains on Forest Service ground a few miles above the reservoir.
Fishing and hunting: Joe's Valley, a 1200-acre reservoir, and its nearby streams are is famous for splake. The adjoining mountains are full of large game. Utah requires valid hunting and fishing licenses and permits. See the annual Sportsmen's Popular activities include photography, mountain biking, motorcycle trails, horseback riding, boating, and hiking.
Winter sports: When the weather turns cold and snow begins to pile up head for Joe's Valley. Snowmobiling, backcountry skiing and ice fishing in the reservoir provide hours of enjoyment.
ATV part of the Arapeen Trail over the popular Reeder Canyon Loop: This ride begins at Joe's Valley Reservoir (elevation 6990 ft.). You must trailer your ATV approximately 25 miles on Utah State Highways 10 and 29 to reach the trailhead in the Reeder Cabins Subdivision. From there you will go up Reeder Canyon to Skyline Drive then down to Grassy Lake and back to Joe's Valley Reservoir. This ride involves some steep climbs on a good ATV trail. This is a great 3/4-day ride. This trail is rated Intermediate.
Getting To Joe's Valley
From Price, Utah, travel 45 miles south on State Road 10 to the junction of State Road 10 and 29. Turn west on State Road 29 through Orangeville, approximately 12 miles. Turn north at stop sign and follow State Road 29 approximately 18 miles to campground. map link
