"Millsite is one of the real treasures in the State Park System. It is a beautiful place. This reservoir is very scenic. There are pines and junipers surrounding it with stunning sandstone cliffs in the background," explained park manager Dan Richards.
Off State Highway 10 near Ferron, Millsite State Park, offers a great camping experience near a clear reservoir. Twenty campsites, several picnic sites, pavilions, fire pits and all the amenities, including boat ramp and docks are part of this beautiful vacation destination. There is a fee to enter the park.
Things to do
- Water related activities await you at Millsite State Park. A boat-launching ramp provides access for all types of watercraft. Water-skiing, sailing and swimming are popular activities.
- Fishing Come to catch rainbow and tiger trout from a boat or off of the shore. Visit our fishing page to learn about other fishing opportunities in Castle Country. Utah law requires anglers to purchase permits. Day or season permits can be purchased at any sporting goods or bait shop.
- Golf Adjacent to the park, Millsite Golf Course, is a par 36, 3,000-yard course that follows the hills and natural terrain surrounding the Millsite dam. The course contains impressive elevation changes, colorful cliffs and foreboding vistas along with some highly challenging holes. To reserve a tee-time phone (435) 384-2887.
- Camping Relax in one of Millsite's 20 camping units. The spacious campground and numerous picnic sites make the vacation perfect. Mature trees give campers shade in the hot summer months. The camping facilities are described in detail below. There is a fee for day use and over-night camping.
- Ice Fishing & Winter Sports Avid winter anglers pull rainbow and tiger trout from the lakes frosty waters. Camping facilities are partially open during the winter months. The day use area is available for trailers and motor homes to park overnight. About 500 visitors come to Millsite State Park in the wintertime. The park is situated within the wintering grounds of some of Utah's largest big game herds. There's a potential to see deer, elk and moose. The mountains surrounding the state park attract hundreds of snowmobiling, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing enthusiasts each year. Visit our winter sports page for more information.
- Outdoor Sports The nearby Manti-LaSal Forest offers opportunities for hiking, mountain biking, off highway vehicles and horseback riding.
Facilities
There are 20 shoreline campsites, picnic sites, two large covered group pavilions with picnic tables and fire pits, drinking water, modern restrooms with hot showers, a sanitary disposal station, boat ramp, docks and a sandy beach. The campground has lawn areas suitable for tents. Each campsite has a level parking pad, picnic table and barbecue grill. There is a fee for day use and camping.
Reservations
Reservations are available for group-use and individual campsites. Individual campsite reservations may be made from three to 120 days in advance. Group reservations may be made one year in advance.
