Range Creek, 9-Mile Canyon, ange Creek, 9-Mile Canyon, & the San Rafael Swell the San Rafael Swell Range Creek has been referred to as “The Secret Canyon.” It has been the subject of documentaries on Scientifi c American, KUED Television, and Time Team America. Stories have appeared in numerous magazines like National Geographic and Smithsonian. 9-Mile Canyon has been called the longest art gallery in the world. Some of the most famous petroglyphs in the world can be found there. These canyons were the home of the Fremont Indian culture for over a thousand years. They mysteriously disappeared about 800 years ago, leaving behind innumerable clues to their rich history. Tucked away in an isolated canyon in Eastern Utah, Range Creek Canyon was virtually unknown to the world for 100 years. In 2003 the owners sold the property to the state of Utah. The canyon is now managed by the University of Utah Museum of Natural History. The San Rafael Swell is fi lled with mysteries to explore, some that date back thousands of years.
